Protection of Human Rights for Indonesian Migrant Fishers Working in Taiwan

In an effort to protect human rights for migrant AKPs in Taiwan, IOJI carried out advocacy by forming a coalition with seven labor unions and 11 civil society organizations in Indonesia and Taiwan. This coalition aims to fight for better protection standards for Indonesian migrant AKP. Through this collaboration, the coalition has prepared a proposal containing evidence-based recommendations to be submitted to the authorities in Indonesia and Taiwan. This advocacy and recommendation aims to encourage the two government authorities to immediately formulate an agreement that guarantees human rights, especially the labor rights of Indonesian migrant AKPs, throughout the migration and placement process on Taiwanese fishing vessels.
