IOJI has published six studies from 2021 to 2024. The studies conducted include “Portrait of Job Vulnerability of Fishing Seafarers on Foreign Ships: Legal, Human Rights and Institutional Review,” which was conducted in 2021-2022 and involved migrant fishers from Pemalang, Tegal, and Bitung, was launched by the Minister of Manpower on August 31 2022. This study became the basis for further advocacy in protecting migrant fishers. Furthermore, a position paper was created together with Serikat Buruh Migran Indonesia and Destructive Fishing Watch to encourage the Ministry of Manpower to issue derivative regulations from PP 22/2022 on protection and placement. Apart from that, there is a policy paper “Strategy and Action Plan for Strengthening the Protection of Migrant Fishing Ship Crews in Central Java Province,” which was prepared together with the Central Java Provincial Manpower and Transmigration Office. This study aims to analyze the problems faced by migrant fishing ship crews in Central Java and offer recommendations to address the various issues discovered. A study was made together with a civil society coalition as a recommendation for making AKP Migrant policies for the Indonesian and Taiwanese authorities. A brief study was made to clarify the map of authority in the placement of migrant seafarers in Indonesia.
