Since 2020, Indonesia has been part of the High Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy where one of the commitments of the panel member countries is to manage 100% of the ocean area under national jurisdiction with the guidance of a sustainable ocean management plan.
In 2023, Indonesia has declared the Indonesian Marine Policy (KKI) as a Sustainable Ocean Plan. Even though Indonesia has various policy frameworks regarding a Sustainable Marine Economy or Blue Economy, these frameworks still require harmonization efforts. IOJI conducted a gap analysis on the development of the Sustainable Ocean Plan which reviewed various marine economic policy/planning documents in Indonesia.
